A single Chase Field page prints the same clutch twice, and not in the same order. Its bag policy allows 4.5 by 6.5 inches with no letters attached, and its refusal list sets the ceiling at 6.5 inches wide by 4.5 inches high. Allegiant Stadium, Levi’s Stadium, Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park each print one order and never the letters.

The Chase Field clutch limit is one rectangle written two ways on the same page, 4.5 by 6.5 inches in the bag policy and 6.5 inches wide by 4.5 inches high on the refusal list, read September 2026. The clear bag limit is 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one gallon clear plastic freezer bag.
Anyone holding two venue pages side by side sees two numbers and assumes two rules. There is one object. Only the order moved, and the letters are what say so.
Chase Field writes its clutch twice on one page, and only once with letters
Chase Field admits one bag per fan that is clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and no larger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one gallon clear plastic freezer bag, plus a small clutch bag of 4.5 by 6.5 inches, read September 2026. Backpacks are refused by name at the gate.
Three containers make up that allowance, and none is a version of another. A clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag inside the box of 12 x 6 x 12 inches. A one gallon clear plastic freezer bag, a Ziploc or similar. A small clutch bag of 6.5 by 4.5 inches, which the wording never asks to be transparent.
The ceiling on the clutch is also the ceiling on a wallet. Bags and wallets exceeding the size of a small clutch bag sit together on the refusal list, according to Chase Field, read September 2026, so an oversized billfold is measured against the same two numbers as a purse.
One bag per fan. That count sits in the first clause, before any dimension appears.
Only the refusal list carries the letters W and H, and four other Western gates never use them
The Chase Field guide publishes its small bag as 4.5 by 6.5 inches in the bag policy and as 6.5 W by 4.5 H on the refusal list, read September 2026, so the width goes first only in the second of the two. Allegiant Stadium publishes 4.5 by 6.5 by 2 inches, Levi’s Stadium publishes 4.5 by 6.5 and calls it the size of an adult hand, and Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park both publish 4.5 by 6.5 without asking for transparency.
Nothing in that spread is a different bag. One rectangle appears at five gates, and the Phoenix page is the only one that labels which side is which, on the second of its two mentions. A purse fitting inside 6.5 by 4.5 inches satisfies all five figures, and the Las Vegas version of the same clutch adds a third dimension of 2 inches that Chase Field never mentions.
The risk runs the other way for a bag bought against the Phoenix number. Read 6.5 W by 4.5 H as height by width and the purse comes home 4.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches tall, standing 2 inches over the ceiling in the dimension that decides (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).
One rectangle. Two printed orders. Only one of them is labeled.
Thirteen Western venues publish the same clear box, and Phoenix prints it too
Thirteen Western venues publish the same clear box of 12 by 6 by 12 inches, read September 2026: Chase Field, State Farm Stadium, Snapdragon Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, Levi’s Stadium, Dodger Stadium, the Kia Forum, SoFi Stadium, BMO Stadium, Rose Bowl Stadium, Lumen Field, T-Mobile Park and Petco Park. A tote bought for a Seahawks Sunday clears the Phoenix measurement without a second look.
What travels with the box is only the box. Petco Park attaches a single compartment clause to those three numbers, and the San Diego compartment count disqualifies a clear tote with an interior zip pocket that Phoenix would wave through. Lumen Field caps a clear backpack at no more than 2 pockets. In Phoenix the box arrives with no clause at all, and the backpack is refused outright instead.
Anaheim prints a different box altogether. Angel Stadium admits a clear bag of 12.75 by 6.5 by 12.75 inches, according to Angel Stadium, read September 2026, larger than the Phoenix box in all three dimensions. A bag bought in Orange County can be too big for Chase Field while being legal at home.
The box is common property. The sentence after it is not.
A backpack fails at Chase Field on what it is, not on what it measures
Backpacks are refused by name at Chase Field, alongside luggage of any kind, computer bags, camera bags, briefcases, fanny packs, cinch bags and any bag larger than the permissible size, read September 2026. A clear backpack that fits inside 12 x 6 x 12 inches still falls, because the category is on the list before the tape measure comes out.
State Farm Stadium writes the opposite rule for the same object. Only clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags not exceeding 12 x 6 x 12 inches are permitted there, including clear backpacks and fanny packs, according to State Farm Stadium, read September 2026. The two Arizona venues in this guide agree on the box and disagree on what shape may be poured into it.
Seattle writes it the Phoenix way. Backpacks, multi compartment bags, duffle bags and purses larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches are not permitted, according to T-Mobile Park, read September 2026, and the Mariners condition about seeing to the bottom of a bag adds a packing test that does not appear on the Chase Field page read in September 2026.
The tape measure decides the clutch. The list decides the backpack.
Gates A, F, J and K at Chase Field are re-entry doors, and the letters are not parking
Four specific gates at Chase Field are set up as re-entry gates: A, F, J and K, read September 2026. Guests may leave at any time; a fan planning to come back goes to one of those gates, shows the ticket to the usher and is scanned out, then shows the ticket again and is scanned in on return.
Those letters are where a Phoenix plan goes wrong. A, F, J and K name gates at Chase Field, and the two garages the ballpark does name carry words instead of letters: the Chase Field Garage and the Jefferson Street Garage, read September 2026.
Both garages appear in the ballpark’s bicycle entry rather than anywhere else. Bike racks sit at street level inside the Chase Field Garage, at street level inside the Jefferson Street Garage, and on the Plaza at the south end of Caesar’s Sportsbook, left at their own risk, according to Chase Field, read September 2026. For driving and parking the A-Z guide points readers to the Directions and Parking section of dbacks.com, and no Chase Field parking figure appears in this guide.
Four letters, four doors, no lots.
Three Western venues publish that a ticket holder may come back, and only Chase Field names the doors
Three Western venues read for this series publish a policy that permits re-entry, Chase Field, Petco Park and Crypto.com Arena, and only one of them names the doors. Petco Park scans the digital ticket out and back in without naming a gate, according to Petco Park, and Crypto.com Arena sends a guest to a Guest Services Team Member for the scan, according to Crypto.com Arena, both read September 2026, while Phoenix prints four letters.
Ten publish the opposite. Allegiant Stadium refuses re-entry to the building and to the lot, Sphere states that all exits are final, and T-Mobile Arena, Chase Center, BMO Stadium, Rose Bowl Stadium, Climate Pledge Arena, T-Mobile Park, Moda Center and State Farm Stadium each publish a pedestrian refusal, read September 2026. The nearest of the ten to Phoenix writes that re-entry with a previously scanned ticket is not permitted.
One published sentence gets quoted as a pedestrian refusal and is not one. The line at Angel Stadium that there is no in/out parking has the vehicle as its subject, and the ballpark writes nothing about a guest on foot, read September 2026. Crypto.com Arena publishes a sentence of the same shape for its garages and a separate one for the person, on another page, which is why it belongs above and not here. Rose Bowl Stadium publishes both kinds and keeps them apart: no in and out privileges for vehicles in its tailgating rules, and once you exit the stadium, you may not re-enter in its prohibited list.
| Venue and issuer, read September 2026 | Small non-clear bag as published | Clear bag box as published | What a refused bag costs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Field, Phoenix (Arizona Diamondbacks) | 4.5 x 6.5 inches in the bag policy, restated as 6.5 W by 4.5 H on the refusal list | 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one gallon freezer bag | A walk out and back through Gates A, F, J or K, scanned out and scanned in |
| Petco Park, San Diego (San Diego Padres) | 5 x 7 inches | 12 x 6 x 12 inches, single compartment | Re-entry by digital ticket, suspended on select promotional days |
| State Farm Stadium, Glendale (Arizona Cardinals) | 4.5 x 6.5 inches, opaque allowed below that size | 12 x 6 x 12 inches, clear backpacks included | No re-entry with a previously scanned ticket |
| T-Mobile Park, Seattle (Seattle Mariners) | 4.5 x 6.5 inches, transparency not required | 12 x 6 x 12 inches | No re-entry unless an Event Security Captain or Gate Host Captain grants it |
| Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas | 4.5 x 6.5 x 2 inches | 12 x 6 x 12 inches | No re-entry to the building or the lot, and paid bag storage instead |
| Lumen Field, Seattle | 4.5 x 6.5 inches, transparency not required | 12 x 6 x 12 inches, clear backpack up to 2 pockets | No re-entry rule on the three pages read, and Walker’s Lockers with no published price |
Read down the last column and the Phoenix row is the cheap one, because the repair costs time instead of money or a ticket.
A refused bag in Phoenix walks to the car, and elsewhere it goes into a locker
Nothing on the Chase Field page read in September 2026 offers a locker or a bag check. What it offers instead is the door back out, which is why a bag that fails inspection there costs a walk rather than the rest of the game.
Four Western venues put a number on the same problem. Allegiant Stadium charges $20 per bag for storage and does not refund it. Oracle Park sends the bag to The Mobile Locker Co truck at the Marina Gate at a flat $12. Chase Center takes a $10 donation to check a large bag beside its East Entrance, and the Mission Bay rule behind that donation accepts bags of any size, suitcases included. Crypto.com Arena starts its Binbox lockers at $15 per checked bag, also non-refundable.
Two more name a place and no figure: Lumen Field runs Walker’s Lockers for Seahawks games and full stadium events without publishing a price, and Rose Bowl Stadium sends large purses and bags back to a vehicle or into an item check-in tent, read September 2026.
Distance to the car is not the whole story either. T-Mobile Park opens its Mariners Garage 3 hours prior to game time, according to T-Mobile Park, read September 2026, so the car is close and reachable, and the ticket still ends at the exit unless an Event Security Captain or a Gate Host Captain says otherwise.
Winner for a visitor who drove and got refused: Chase Field, on what the mistake costs. The bag goes back to the car and the ticket survives, through Gates A, F, J or K. Winner for a visitor with no car: Crypto.com Arena, because the Binbox arrangement downtown turns the problem into a fixed sum at the door. Loser in both: anyone at a gate that publishes neither a locker nor a way back in.
Saturday moves the Chase Field gate, and the rest of the week does not
Gates open 90 minutes before first pitch for Sunday through Friday games and 2 hours before first pitch for Saturday games, according to Chase Field, read September 2026. The day of the week is the variable, not the opponent and not the event type.
That matters to a bag because the repair takes time. A fan turned away at a gate has to fit the walk back, the walk out and a second screening inside the window between gates opening and first pitch, and on six days out of seven that window is the shorter one (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).
Las Vegas moves the same gate by tenant instead. Doors open 2 hours before kickoff for a Raiders game and 90 minutes before kickoff for UNLV, according to Allegiant Stadium, read September 2026. Two identical numbers, and a different variable sitting behind them.
State Farm Stadium publishes the car clock and a gate time that disagrees with itself. Its parking lots open 4 hours before a Cardinals kickoff and close 1 hour after the event, according to State Farm Stadium, read September 2026, while its gates open two hours before kickoff in its A to Z guide and 90 minutes before it on its Cardinals game pages.
Angel Stadium moves its gate by start time instead. The parking lot opens 2.5 hours prior to game time, and the Angels A to Z guide opens all gates 90 minutes before first pitch and 60 minutes before a 1 p.m. start, while their tailgating page gives 2 hours at the Home Plate gate, read September 2026.
Guest Relations at sections 128 and 322 takes strollers, and the page read names no bag check
Guests may check strollers at a Guest Relations office on the Main Concourse at section 128 or the Upper Concourse at section 322, according to Chase Field, read September 2026. Those offices are staffed from the time gates open until approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game, and approximately is the ballpark’s own word, not a promise about a clock.
A stroller check is not a bag check. The service named on the page read applies to strollers, and nothing on that page offers a shelf for a purse, a backpack or a camera bag, read September 2026.
Las Vegas makes the gap visible. There, Allegiant Stadium publishes $20.00 for a stroller check and $20 per bag for a bag check, both non-refundable, so one building prices two services. Phoenix names the two Guest Relations offices for strollers, puts no figure beside them, and carries no equivalent line for bags on the page read.
Twenty of the twenty-seven Western venues read for this series publish at least one figure counted from the end of an event, and the Chase Field figure is that one: 30 minutes of staffed Guest Relations. That is help for a lost phone or a lost child, not a departure time.
Six published Chase Field rules that change a Phoenix packing list
- The freezer bag is its own allowance. A one gallon clear plastic freezer bag enters on its own terms and not as a small version of the 12 x 6 x 12 inch box, read September 2026.
- Wallets are measured too. Bags and wallets over 6.5 by 4.5 inches appear together on the refusal list, according to Chase Field, so an oversized billfold is a bag for this purpose.
- Cinch bags and fanny packs are named individually. Both sit on the prohibited list beside backpacks, luggage of any kind, computer bags, camera bags and briefcases, read September 2026.
- Saturday is the early day. Gates open 2 hours before first pitch on Saturdays and 90 minutes from Sunday through Friday, according to Chase Field.
- Giveaway items require an exit. Guests with multiple tickets must exit and reenter the ballpark in order to receive multiple giveaway items, while supplies last, read September 2026.
- Bicycles stay outside. Racks sit at street level inside the Chase Field Garage and the Jefferson Street Garage and on the Plaza at the south end of Caesar’s Sportsbook, and bikes are left at their own risk.
Giveaway nights run in opposite directions in Phoenix and San Diego
Guests with multiple tickets must exit and reenter Chase Field in order to receive multiple giveaway items, while supplies last, according to Chase Field, read September 2026. The re-entry door is the collection mechanism, which makes the giveaway line a reason to use it rather than a reason to avoid it.
Petco Park switches the same door off for the same reason. On select promotional days its reentry policy does not apply until all promotional items have been exhausted, according to Petco Park, read September 2026. One ballpark spends re-entry to hand out extras; the other withdraws re-entry to stop them going out twice.
Same mechanism, opposite policy. A San Diego habit applied in Phoenix costs a second giveaway item, and a Phoenix habit applied in San Diego costs the way back in.
Where a Chase Field entry plan breaks between the sidewalk and the scanner
Reading 6.5 by 4.5 as height by width. The Phoenix refusal list writes W and H for a reason, and a purse bought 4.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches tall is over the ceiling in the dimension that decides, according to Chase Field, read September 2026.
Treating A, F, J and K as parking. They are gates. A driver circling downtown for a parking area with one of those letters is hunting for something the ballpark never wrote down.
Buying a clear backpack for a Diamondbacks game. It clears the box and fails the list, because Chase Field refuses backpacks by type, read September 2026, while State Farm Stadium in Glendale admits clear backpacks inside that same box.
Planning on a bag check. The page read in September 2026 names a stroller check at Guest Relations and no locker, so the Walker’s Lockers arrangement in Seattle has no Phoenix counterpart on it.
Arriving by train and counting on the repair. Chase Field publishes that Valley Metro Rail trains run every 15 minutes at the tightest and every 20 minutes at the widest, and a rider with no car nearby has nowhere to carry a refused bag.
Which Chase Field pages carried each rule in this guide
Every bag dimension, gate letter and gate time here comes from one source: the Chase Field A-Z ballpark guide published by the Arizona Diamondbacks at mlb.com, read in September 2026. Each comparison names its own issuer inside the sentence carrying it, whether that is Allegiant Stadium, Levi’s Stadium, Lumen Field, T-Mobile Park, Petco Park, State Farm Stadium, Angel Stadium, Rose Bowl Stadium, Oracle Park, Chase Center or Crypto.com Arena.
The figures in this guide were verified in September 2026 against the sources named in each section. Bag rules change by event and by tenant, gate windows change with the schedule, and re-entry policies change on promotional dates; check the issuer’s page before you travel.
Bag questions Diamondbacks visitors ask before first pitch
Six answers from the Chase Field A-Z ballpark guide, read September 2026: the clutch printed twice, as 4.5 by 6.5 and as 6.5 by 4.5, the clear box, the backpack refusal, the re-entry gates and the Saturday gate time.
One bag per fan enters Chase Field: a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no larger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches, or a one gallon clear plastic freezer bag. A small clutch bag of 6.5 by 4.5 inches also enters, read September 2026, and backpacks do not.
Both, and both come from the same page. The Chase Field bag policy allows a clutch no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches, and its refusal list sets the ceiling at 6.5 inches wide by 4.5 inches high, read September 2026. Allegiant Stadium, Levi’s Stadium, Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park publish only the first order. The longer side is the width.
Yes. Guests may leave Chase Field at any time, and specific gates are set up as re-entry gates, read September 2026. A returning fan shows the ticket to an usher and is scanned out, then shows the ticket and is scanned in again on the way back into the ballpark.
Gates A, F, J and K, according to Chase Field, read September 2026. Those letters belong to gates and not to parking areas, which is the easy mistake in Phoenix, because the two garages the ballpark names in its bicycle entry are the Chase Field Garage and the Jefferson Street Garage.
No. Backpacks sit on the Chase Field prohibited list beside luggage of any kind, computer bags, camera bags, briefcases, fanny packs and cinch bags, read September 2026. The refusal runs on type rather than size, so a clear backpack inside 12 x 6 x 12 inches still fails at the gate.
Gates open 90 minutes before first pitch for Sunday through Friday games and 2 hours before first pitch for Saturday games, according to Chase Field, read September 2026. The day of the week moves that number, not the opponent and not the event type, so a Saturday plan starts earlier.
In Phoenix the gate letter matters more than the tape measure
Read alone, the Chase Field bag rule is unremarkable. It shares its clear box with twelve other Western venues, refuses backpacks by type the way T-Mobile Park does, and prints a clutch the size Allegiant Stadium prints. Nothing in the dimensions is specific to Phoenix except the order of two numbers and the letters beside them.
Read together with the re-entry sentence, the same building turns into the forgiving one. A refused bag at Allegiant Stadium, Sphere, T-Mobile Arena, Chase Center, BMO Stadium, Rose Bowl Stadium, Climate Pledge Arena, T-Mobile Park, Moda Center or State Farm Stadium ends the visit or costs a locker fee, read September 2026. In Phoenix it costs a walk to Gate A, F, J or K and a second scan.
