A backpack can measure right at Lumen Field and still be the wrong backpack. The stadium publishes a clear bag ceiling that is not local to Seattle at all, then attaches a condition to it that almost nobody else in the West repeats in the same form: the clear backpack it admits may carry no more than 2 pockets, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026.

The Lumen Field clear bag limit is 12 x 6 x 12 inches, and a clear backpack is admitted only with no more than 2 pockets, read September 2026. That second rule is not about volume. It counts zips. A family arriving at 800 Occidental Ave S with a compliant tote and a three pocket clear daypack is carrying one admissible object and one refusal, and no amount of repacking fixes the second one.
A clear backpack enters Lumen Field only with no more than 2 pockets
A clear bag of 12 x 6 x 12 inches enters Lumen Field in clear plastic, vinyl or PVC, read September 2026. A clutch of 4.5 x 6.5 inches enters without being clear. A clear backpack enters only with no more than 2 pockets, so a three pocket model stops on a count.
Three separate objects make up the Lumen Field allowance rather than one. One clear bag of clear plastic, vinyl or PVC that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″. One transparent one gallon freezer bag. A clutch of 4.5″ x 6.5″, with or without a handle or a strap, which does not have to be clear, read September 2026.
The backpack sits inside the first object rather than beside it. Any clear backpack is admissible because it is a clear bag, and the pocket count then decides whether that particular clear bag gets through. Two guests holding identical 12 x 6 x 12 inch clear backpacks can receive different answers, and the variable is the number of pockets sewn into each one.
Inches are measured once. Pockets are counted every time.
A pocket count is a rule about the bag already owned, not the bag on the tape
A box of 12 x 6 x 12 inches at Lumen Field is a question a tape measure answers, read September 2026. The pocket limit is not. Counting to 2 needs no tool and no conversion, which is exactly why it gets skipped by a visitor who checked the dimensions and considered the matter closed.
Clear bag rules were written for football crowds, and the shopping habit they produced is dimensional: buy the tote that matches the printed box, then reuse it everywhere. That habit breaks at Lumen Field without the box changing at all. The tote still works. Put a front pouch and a side sleeve on the same clear daypack and it measures identically while answering the second question differently.
The consequence arrives in three versions of one evening. A clutch of 4.5 x 6.5 inches walks in with no count to make. The tote inside 12 x 6 x 12 inches walks in on its dimensions alone. The backpack inside that same box walks in only if the pockets stop at two, read September 2026.
One page, two different kinds of test.
Three Western doors count closures instead of inches, and no two set the same number
Five of the twenty-seven venues Lot Opens reads from source decide part of a bag by counting something rather than by measuring it, and each counts a different thing: pockets at Lumen Field, compartments at Chase Center, closures at Angel Stadium, single compartment diaper bags at T-Mobile Park and single compartment clear bags at Petco Park, all read September 2026.
Chase Center does not permit backpacks at all, with two named exceptions, a drawstring bag and a fashion backpack purse, and both have to carry a single compartment inside the arena maximum of 14 x 6 x 14 inches, read September 2026. A pack that satisfies the Seattle pocket ceiling of two is refused outright in San Francisco, because the second compartment is the disqualifier there. Our guide to how Chase Center sorts arrivals at its entrances follows what that does to a group on Terry A Francois Blvd.
Angel Stadium starts from a ban as well. One of its three exceptions is a bag or handbag of 12 x 12 inches that closes with a single zipper or flap, and its clear bag of 12.75 x 6.5 x 12.75 inches is required to have no opaque interior pockets, read September 2026.
Line the three up and the counts run in opposite directions. Chase Center allows one compartment and refuses the second. Lumen Field allows two pockets and refuses the third. Angel Stadium allows one closure on the opaque bag and no opaque pockets at all on the transparent one.
| Venue and issuer, read September 2026 | What the door counts besides inches | The published size the count sits inside | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lumen Field, Seattle | Pockets on a clear backpack, no more than 2 | Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC of 12 x 6 x 12 inches | A clear backpack with one main zip and one front pocket |
| Chase Center, San Francisco | Compartments, a single one, and only on a drawstring bag or a fashion backpack purse | 14 x 6 x 14 inches, clear or opaque | Anyone willing to swap a daypack for a drawstring sack |
| Angel Stadium, Anaheim | Closures, a single zipper or flap, plus no opaque interior pockets in the clear bag | A handbag of 12 x 12 inches, or a clear bag of 12.75 x 6.5 x 12.75 inches | A purse that shuts with one zip |
| Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle | n/a, the measurement is the whole test | One bag of 14 x 14 x 6 inches, clear or other | A group arriving with the bag already on a shoulder |
Climate Pledge Arena wins for the visitor who would rather not audit a bag before leaving the hotel, because nothing about the construction of the bag is judged there, read September 2026. Lumen Field wins for anyone who already owns a plain clear backpack, since Chase Center refuses that object by category. Our reading of the Climate Pledge Arena allowance of 14 x 14 x 6 inches sets out the other Seattle answer in full.
Thirteen of the twenty-seven venues print the same 12 by 6 by 12 clear box
Thirteen of the twenty-seven venues publish a clear bag box built from the same three numbers, 12 by 6 by 12 inches, and Lumen Field is one of them, read September 2026. The box is the least distinctive thing on its bag page.
Allegiant Stadium, Levi’s Stadium, SoFi Stadium, the Kia Forum, Dodger Stadium, Rose Bowl Stadium, BMO Stadium, T-Mobile Park, Petco Park, Chase Field, State Farm Stadium and Snapdragon Stadium print those same three numbers, read September 2026. A tote bought for a Sunday in Las Vegas or in Inglewood clears the Seattle measurement without a second thought, which is why the measurement settles nothing here.
What does not travel is everything attached to the box. SoFi Stadium requires its clear bag to be fully transparent with no tint, no hologram, no print and no leftover sticker, read September 2026, traced in our breakdown of the SoFi Stadium transparency clause. The Kia Forum adds a second bag of 9 x 6 inches that is allowed to stay opaque, read September 2026, covered in our guide to the Kia Forum second bag allowance. The pocket count is the Lumen Field addition.
Dodger Stadium sets a clutch of 5 x 8 x 2 inches beside its box and Lumen Field sets one at 4.5 x 6.5 inches, read September 2026, a difference our look at the Dodger Stadium clutch and clear box follows through a gate queue.
Same three numbers, four different doors.
Medically necessary items reach the Lumen Field seats through five named entrances
Medically necessary items, diapers included, enter Lumen Field after proper inspection at five entrances the stadium names: the Cascade VIP Gate, the Olympic VIP Gate, the Rainier VIP Gate, the Club Entrance on Garage Level 5 and the Suite Entrance on Garage Level 6, read September 2026.
That turns an exemption into a route. Where the medical exception carries no door list, a carer walks to whichever gate matches the seat and presents the bag there. At Lumen Field the exception and the entrance are a single decision, and it gets made before anyone is anywhere near a turnstile.
Two of the five sit inside the parking structure. A family parked in the Lumen Field Parking Garage at 330 S Royal Brougham Way is already standing beside the Club Entrance and the Suite Entrance, while a family that came in on Link from downtown is standing beside none of the five, read September 2026.
Two other Western venues attach something physical to the same exception, and neither does it this way. Rose Bowl Stadium sends medical items that fall outside its policy to the Public Safety Building between Gates A and B, read September 2026, which is a review office rather than an entrance. BMO Stadium requires management approval on top of inspection, read September 2026. Only Lumen Field names the doors themselves.
The exception is real. The door list is the condition attached to it.
Two Seattle stadiums publish two different everyday bags, and the gap is 312 cubic inches
Climate Pledge Arena admits one bag of 14 x 14 x 6 inches, clear or other, and Lumen Field admits a clear bag of 12 x 6 x 12 inches, both read September 2026. One city, one month, two different answers about the same tote.
Multiply the two boxes out and the Seattle Center allowance holds 1,176 cubic inches against 864 at Lumen Field, a gap of 312 cubic inches, or roughly 1.36 times the volume (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026). The larger box is also the one that asks for no transparency and counts no pockets.
The order of travel between them runs one way. A bag packed for the Lumen Field rules walks into Climate Pledge Arena untouched, since it is smaller, clear and simple. A bag packed for Climate Pledge Arena, opaque and 14 inches wide, has to be emptied and replaced before it reaches a Lumen Field entrance, read September 2026.
The margin for fixing a mistake is published on one side of the city and not the other. No gate opening time appears on the three Lumen Field pages read, while Climate Pledge Arena publishes two, 90 minutes before a Kraken puck drop and 60 minutes before a Storm tipoff, read September 2026. A Seattle Center visitor who fails on a bag knows exactly how much time is left. A Lumen Field visitor is working without that number.
Our guide to parking and the garages at Climate Pledge Arena covers the driving half of the same comparison, where the two buildings also publish different things about a car.
One city, two shopping lists.
Walker’s Lockers carries a name, a list of event types and no published price
Walker’s Lockers is the official bag storage at Lumen Field for Seahawks events and Large Stadium Events only, in the stadium’s own wording, and the locker page narrows that further to Seahawks games and full-stadium events including Supercross, Monster Jam and full-stadium concerts, read September 2026.
No price appears beside the name. The stadium also states that there are no official WAMU Theater mobile lockers, and that other vendors offer lockers in the area while it does not monitor outside vendors, read September 2026.
The fallback here is a calendar question before it is a money question. A Seahawks Sunday has a named counter to walk to. A WAMU Theater night, by the stadium’s own sentence, has no official one.
| Venue and issuer, read September 2026 | Named storage for a bag the door refuses | Price the venue publishes |
|---|---|---|
| Lumen Field, Seattle | Walker’s Lockers, for Seahawks games and full-stadium events only | None on the three pages read |
| Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas | Staffed bag check points | $20 per bag |
| Oracle Park, San Francisco | Held storage for a refused bag | A flat $12 |
| Chase Center, San Francisco | Bag check counter | A $10 donation |
| Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles | Binbox lockers by the Kobe Bryant Entrance | From $15 |
| Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle | n/a, none on the four pages read | n/a |
One row carries a service name and no number in it, and it belongs to Lumen Field. Allegiant Stadium charges $20 per bag, Oracle Park charges a flat $12, Chase Center runs its bag check on a $10 donation and Crypto.com Arena prices Binbox lockers from $15, each read September 2026.
The silence extends to the car. Onsite parking rates are subject to change and may vary on the day of the event, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026, and six of the twenty-seven venues publish a parking rate: Chase Center, Levi’s Stadium, Dodger Stadium, Angel Stadium, Crypto.com Arena and Snapdragon Stadium.
Those three print real numbers. Dodger Stadium prices General Parking at $40 bought in advance and $45 paid at the gate, Chase Center publishes $7 per hour on an event day up to a $35 daily maximum, and Crypto.com Arena runs a timed rate to a $40 daily maximum with a flat gate rate reaching $50, each read September 2026. Seattle prints none of that, so a bag budget here has no anchor to borrow from the parking page.
A named service with no number is a different planning problem from a number with no name.
No list of prohibited items appears on the three Lumen Field pages read
Three Lumen Field pages were read for this guide in September 2026: the parking and transportation page, the clear bag policy and the lockers page. The bag policy is written entirely as what enters. None of the three carries a list of objects the stadium refuses.
That is a statement about those three pages and nothing wider. A refusal list may sit elsewhere on lumenfield.com, and what can be said from the pages read is only that none of them carries one. The general stadium guide is an index that links to the policies rather than holding them, so the bag rules, the locker rules and the parking rules each live on a page of their own, read September 2026.
The contrast with the group is sharpest where it matters most to parents. SoFi Stadium and Allegiant Stadium both name diaper bags among prohibited items on their own pages, read September 2026. Diapers appear at Lumen Field in the opposite direction, inside the medically necessary exception that enters through the five named entrances.
An absent list is not a permission.
The Lumen Field Parking Garage closes 2 hours after the event, and that dates the fallback
The Lumen Field Parking Garage opens at 6am on event days and closes 2 hours post event, and the North Lot at 521 Stadium Pl S. keeps the same hours, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026. Opening by clock time rather than by a margin before the event is unusual across this group.
The bag consequence follows from where a refused object goes. With Walker’s Lockers limited to Seahawks games and full-stadium events, the vehicle is the fallback on every other night, and that vehicle sits inside a structure whose closing time is pinned to the end of the event rather than to a fixed hour, read September 2026.
Take an event that finishes at 10 p.m. and the garage shuts at midnight (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026), which is also the hour the stadium summarises for light rail when it says that all Links stop running at midnight. For the train itself the issuer is the transit agency, and Sound Transit publishes a last weekday 1 Line arrival at Westlake at 12:33 a.m.
Arriving without a car removes the fallback entirely. Climate Pledge Arena publishes a rideshare pick up that does not open until 45 minutes after the event, read September 2026, while the Lumen Field page names two pick up points, King St. and Occidental on the north side and Royal Brougham and Occidental on the south side, with no clock attached to either. Neither building offers a passenger anywhere to put a refused backpack.
Twenty of the twenty-seven venues publish a figure counted from the end of an event, and Lumen Field is one of them, read September 2026.
A locker with a calendar and a garage with a clock are one deadline seen twice.
Small published Lumen Field rules that change what a Seattle group carries in
- Count the pockets before reaching for a tape measure. Backpack pockets stop at 2 inside a box of 12 x 6 x 12 inches, read September 2026.
- The clutch is the object with the fewest conditions attached. At 4.5 x 6.5 inches, with or without a handle or a strap, it does not have to be clear, read September 2026.
- The clear one gallon freezer bag is a separate allowance rather than a substitute for the clear bag, read September 2026.
- A medically necessary item decides the entrance. The Cascade VIP Gate, the Olympic VIP Gate, the Rainier VIP Gate, the Club Entrance on Garage Level 5 and the Suite Entrance on Garage Level 6 are the five that are named, read September 2026.
- Storage depends on the event type. The named service, Walker’s Lockers, covers Seahawks games and full-stadium events, and the stadium states there are no official WAMU Theater mobile lockers, read September 2026.
- A parking reservation at Lumen Field runs through email at [email protected] instead of a checkout, and SpotHero appears as an advance booking partner with a price of its own, read September 2026.
- The clutch carries no published depth. The figure is two dimensions, 4.5 x 6.5 inches, where Climate Pledge Arena publishes three at 4 x 6 x 1.5 inches, read September 2026.
Where a Lumen Field bag plan breaks between the North Lot and the Cascade VIP Gate
- Measuring the backpack and stopping there. Any clear daypack inside 12 x 6 x 12 inches is still refused when it carries more than 2 pockets, read September 2026.
- Reusing a bag bought for Climate Pledge Arena. That allowance runs to 14 x 14 x 6 inches and requires no transparency, and neither condition crosses Seattle, read September 2026.
- Walking a medically necessary item to the nearest gate. The exception is granted at five named entrances, three VIP gates plus the Club and Suite entrances on Garage Levels 5 and 6, read September 2026.
- Assuming a locker on any night. Walker’s Lockers is published for Seahawks games and full-stadium events only, and the stadium states there are no official WAMU Theater mobile lockers, read September 2026.
- Budgeting a storage fee borrowed from another venue. Allegiant Stadium charges $20 per bag and Oracle Park a flat $12, while Lumen Field publishes no dollar figure at all, read September 2026.
- Reading the missing refusal list as permission. The three pages read in September 2026 publish what enters and carry no list of prohibited items, which is a fact about those pages rather than about the building.
- Leaving the walk back to the car until late. The garage and the North Lot close 2 hours post event, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026.
Which Lumen Field pages carried each rule in this guide
The clear bag of 12 x 6 x 12 inches, the clear plastic, vinyl or PVC wording, the one gallon freezer bag, the clutch of 4.5 x 6.5 inches, the ceiling of no more than 2 pockets and the five entrances for medically necessary items come from the Lumen Field clear bag policy, read September 2026.
Walker’s Lockers, the restriction to Seahawks events and Large Stadium Events, the narrower list of Seahawks games and full-stadium events including Supercross, Monster Jam and full-stadium concerts, the sentence about there being no official WAMU Theater mobile lockers and the note about outside vendors come from the Lumen Field lockers page, read September 2026.
The 6am garage opening, the closing 2 hours post event, the addresses at 330 S Royal Brougham Way and 521 Stadium Pl S., the email reservation at [email protected], the SpotHero partnership, the two rideshare pick up points at King St. and Occidental and at Royal Brougham and Occidental, and the line about all Links stopping at midnight come from the Lumen Field parking and transportation page, read September 2026. The 1 Line timetable figure comes from Sound Transit, which is the issuer for the train rather than the stadium.
Three things appear on none of the three pages read: a list of prohibited items, a gate opening time and a re-entry rule. Figures for Climate Pledge Arena, Chase Center, Angel Stadium, Allegiant Stadium, Oracle Park, Crypto.com Arena, SoFi Stadium, the Kia Forum, Dodger Stadium, Rose Bowl Stadium, Levi’s Stadium and BMO Stadium come from each venue’s own published rule and are named beside each one above.
The figures in this guide were verified in September 2026 against the sources named in each section. Bag rules change by event and by promoter, storage services change with the event type, and venue pages are rewritten without notice; check the issuer’s page before you travel.
Bag questions Seahawks ticket holders ask before the gates open
Six answers taken from the Lumen Field clear bag policy, the lockers page and the parking and transportation page, read September 2026, covering the pocket ceiling, the clutch, the five entrances for medically necessary items and the storage the stadium names without pricing.
Lumen Field admits a clear bag of 12 x 6 x 12 inches in clear plastic, vinyl or PVC, a clear one gallon freezer bag and a clutch of 4.5 x 6.5 inches that does not have to be clear, read September 2026. Any clear backpack enters only with no more than 2 pockets.
No more than 2 pockets, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026. The limit applies to a clear backpack carried inside the clear bag box of 12 x 6 x 12 inches, so a daypack that measures correctly is still refused when it has a third pocket sewn into it.
No. Transparency is not required for the Lumen Field clutch, which measures up to 4.5 x 6.5 inches with or without a handle or a strap, read September 2026. The clear plastic, vinyl or PVC condition applies to the 12 x 6 x 12 inch bag, not to the clutch.
Five entrances are named: the Cascade VIP Gate, the Olympic VIP Gate, the Rainier VIP Gate, the Club Entrance on Garage Level 5 and the Suite Entrance on Garage Level 6, read September 2026. Medically necessary items, diapers included, enter after proper inspection at those points rather than at any gate.
Walker’s Lockers is the official bag storage at Lumen Field for Seahawks events and Large Stadium Events only, and its own page narrows that to Seahawks games and full-stadium events, read September 2026. No price is published, and the stadium states there are no official WAMU Theater mobile lockers.
Parking opens at 6am on event days and closes 2 hours post event at the Lumen Field Parking Garage, and the North Lot keeps the same hours, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026. The stadium publishes no onsite parking rate, stating only that rates are subject to change on the day.
Counting compartments turns a door rule into a shopping receipt
A measurement can be satisfied by folding a bag differently at the entrance. A pocket count cannot be satisfied at all once the bag is bought. That box of 12 x 6 x 12 inches at Lumen Field is the negotiable half of the rule, and the ceiling of 2 pockets is the half that was settled in a shop weeks earlier, read September 2026.
That is why one evening splits by how people arrived. A driver in the Lumen Field Parking Garage can walk a third pocket back to the vehicle before the structure closes 2 hours post event. A rider who came in on Link, on a night that is neither a Seahawks game nor a full-stadium event, has no locker named and no vehicle to return to, read September 2026.
