A driver who types chase field parking into a phone wants a number, and the Arizona Diamondbacks answer with a direction. The parking page on the team’s ballpark site, read 15 September 2026, runs two sentences and ends at ParkWhiz.

Chase Field parking, as the Arizona Diamondbacks publish it in September 2026, is a ParkWhiz referral plus one rule: park in the same Copper Square quadrant you drove in from.
The rest sits on two more Diamondbacks pages: six approaches from around the Valley, a prohibited left turn off 7th Street, weekday HOV hours and exit routes sorted by where the car was left. Put together, that is a parking plan with one blank in it, and the blank is the price.
Chase Field publishes a parking method and leaves the price to ParkWhiz
Chase Field publishes no parking price: the Diamondbacks send drivers to ParkWhiz and tell them to park in the Copper Square quadrant they entered from, read September 2026. Favorable: a southern arrival parks between 3rd Avenue and 9th Street. Normal: 3rd Street traffic gets routed west at Washington Street. Unfavorable: the 3rd Street HOV exit, least preferred on arrival.
Every row below comes from a Diamondbacks page at mlb.com, read September 2026. Where the ballpark prints nothing, the cell says so instead of borrowing a figure from an operator.
| Chase Field arrival option | What the Diamondbacks publish about cost, September 2026 | Where the driver or rider is sent | Rule attached on the Diamondbacks pages | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ParkWhiz, named by the D-backs as preferred partner | No Chase Field figure. A ParkWhiz price is set by ParkWhiz. | The closest parking options to Chase Field, pre-booked before driving | No opening or closing time on the parking page | A driver who wants a space held before leaving home |
| A space in the Copper Square quadrant of entry | No figure published | From the south, between 3rd Avenue and 9th Street, from Lincoln to Jefferson Street | Park in the same quadrant from which you have entered | A driver who wants the parking choice to settle the exit route |
| HOV lanes into Copper Square | n/a, a lane and not a space | The 5th Avenue HOV exit, or the 3rd Street HOV exit the D-backs call least preferred on arrival | Multiple passengers required 6am-9am and 3pm-7pm weekdays | A weekend driver, or a weekday car carrying passengers |
| Valley Metro Rail | Daily fare maximum of $4, a transit fare and not parking | Within walking distance of Chase Field | Trains every 15-20 minutes, and no last train published | A visitor who would rather not park downtown at all |
| Chase Field Garage and Jefferson Street Garage | No figure published | Street-level bike racks inside each garage | Bicycles left at their own risk, and no car hours published | A cyclist, the only use the pages give either garage |
Five rows, one dollar figure, and that figure buys a train ride.
The D-backs parking page is two sentences long and names one partner
The Chase Field parking page says, in full, that the D-backs are excited to provide fans an easy way to pre-book a parking spot before driving to the game through their preferred partner, ParkWhiz, and links to the closest parking options to Chase Field, read 15 September 2026. No rate, no garage name and no opening or closing time appear on it.
That makes ParkWhiz the seller and never the source of a ballpark rate. A price on a ParkWhiz checkout belongs to ParkWhiz and to a date, and Chase Field prints nothing to hold it against. Angel Stadium, Chase Center, Crypto.com Arena, Dodger Stadium, Levi’s Stadium and Snapdragon Stadium each print a parking rate of their own, read September 2026, and Chase Field is not among them.
San Diego runs the same arrangement with a different operator. Petco Park lists SpotHero as the proud parking partner of the San Diego Padres and prints no rate either, read September 2026, so a checkout price in either city answers for the operator and not for the ballpark.
Two garage names do appear on Diamondbacks pages, and neither sits in a parking sentence. The Chase Field Garage and the Jefferson Street Garage are where the A-Z guide places street-level bike racks, beside a third rack on the Plaza at the south end of Caesar’s Sportsbook, read September 2026. Bicycles do not enter the ballpark, and nothing on those pages gives either garage a car rate, a capacity or hours.
Letters are the other trap. Gates A, F, J and K are where ticket holders on foot leave and come back in, and the Chase Field bag rules and its re-entry doors treat them as doors, with no parking meaning at all.
A referral is not a rate.
Copper Square quadrants, starting from the southern box between 3rd Avenue and 9th Street
Park in the same quadrant from which you have entered, the Diamondbacks write, and their one worked example is the south: a driver entering from the south parks between 3rd Avenue and 9th Street, from Lincoln to Jefferson Street, read September 2026. The rule governs where the car stops, and it is the only parking instruction the ballpark writes in its own words.
The ballpark is bounded by Seventh Street to the east, Fourth Street to the west, Jefferson Street to the north and the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks to the south, according to the Diamondbacks driving directions page, read September 2026. That places Chase Field inside the southern box, which runs past Fourth Street on the west side and past Seventh Street on the east (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).
The exit text names two quadrants by their edges. The southeast quadrant of Copper Square is south of Jefferson and east of 4th Street, and the southwest quadrant is south of Jefferson and west of 3rd Street, read September 2026. The southeast quadrant starts at the ballpark’s own north and west boundaries, so the stadium block lies inside it (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).
Two strips go unnamed. Blocks south of Jefferson between 3rd Street and 4th Street fall in neither southern quadrant, and blocks between Washington Street and Jefferson Street fall outside both southern quadrants and outside the north of Washington Street route (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026). A car parked in either strip has no published way out.
Four street edges make the rule. Two strips escape it.
Six Valley approaches to Chase Field and the ramp each one names
The Diamondbacks driving directions page sorts arrivals into six origins, read September 2026, and each names a freeway, an exit and a turn. The fourth column records the street each approach delivers the car to, which is what decides the Copper Square quadrant.
| Origin as the Diamondbacks name it | Freeway and exit published | Turn after the exit | Street the approach reaches | Caveat the Diamondbacks attach |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| From the Southeast Valley | I-10, right three lanes to I-17 at the split, exit right on 7th Street | Left at the signal at Lincoln Street, or north on 7th Street and right on Jefferson Street | Lincoln Street, or parking facilities east of 7th Street | No left turn from 7th Street westbound onto Washington Street, and I-17 to the 7th Avenue exit to avoid congestion |
| From Scottsdale or East Mesa | Loop 202 west to I-10, then the 3rd Street HOV exit or 7th Avenue | Left on Fillmore, Van Buren or Jefferson Street | Fillmore, Van Buren (from 3rd Street only) or Jefferson Street | A second Diamondbacks page calls the 3rd Street HOV exit least preferred during event ingress |
| From the Northwest Valley | I-17 to the Jefferson Street exit | Left, continuing eastbound | Jefferson Street | n/a, no hint published |
| From the Northeast Valley | The parkway the page names, to I-10 eastbound and the Washington Street exit, or I-10 westbound to the 7th Street exit | Right on Washington Street, or left off the 7th Street exit | Washington Street or 7th Street | I-10 to 7th Avenue or the 5th Avenue HOV exit to avoid congestion, then Fillmore, Van Buren (from 5th Avenue only) or Jefferson Street |
| From North Central Phoenix | n/a, surface streets 7th Avenue, 1st Avenue and 7th Street | n/a, no exit involved | 7th Avenue, 1st Avenue or 7th Street | 7th Street is the least preferred option due to heavy usage |
| From the West Valley | I-10 to 7th Avenue or the 5th Avenue HOV exit | Right, then left on Fillmore, Van Buren or Jefferson Streets | Fillmore, Van Buren (from 5th Avenue only) or Jefferson Street | n/a, no hint published |
Jefferson Street turns up in five of the six approaches, and Lincoln Street only in the Southeast Valley route. The southern box is the exception on this page, and Jefferson Street is the rule.
The 3rd Street HOV exit sits in a Diamondbacks route and in a Diamondbacks warning
Drivers from Scottsdale or East Mesa are told to take Loop 202 west to I-10 and exit at the 3rd Street HOV exit or 7th Avenue, according to the Diamondbacks driving directions page, read September 2026. The additional information page says that, due to heavy usage, the 3rd Street HOV exit is the least preferred option during event ingress.
Both sentences come from the same team, and they reconcile. For an arrival before a game the warning governs, so 7th Avenue wins for Scottsdale and East Mesa on the ballpark’s own criterion of heavy usage (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026). The cost is one street: Van Buren is accessible from 3rd Street only, so a 7th Avenue driver keeps Fillmore and Jefferson Street and gives up Van Buren.
The HOV lanes themselves are not the problem. The Northeast Valley and West Valley routes both offer the 5th Avenue HOV exit, and the additional information page tells drivers to use the HOV lanes to get in and out of Copper Square for events, read September 2026. One HOV ramp carries the warning and the other carries the recommendation.
Surface streets repeat the pattern. North Central Phoenix drivers get 7th Avenue, 1st Avenue and 7th Street, with 7th Street the least preferred option, and a southbound 7th Street driver facing a backup is advised to turn right on Roosevelt or Fillmore Streets and use 1st Street or 1st Avenue to travel south, read September 2026. Southbound traffic on 3rd Street may be routed west at Washington Street as conditions dictate, and the published way around runs west on Washington Street to 1st Avenue and south, or east on Jefferson Street to reach parking.
Third Street and Seventh Street carry the warnings. The avenues carry the workarounds.
Weekday HOV hours of 6am to 9am and 3pm to 7pm meet a 90-minute Chase Field gate
Multiple passengers are required in the HOV lanes only during peak rush hours of 6am-9am and 3pm-7pm weekdays, according to the Diamondbacks additional information page, read September 2026. That is a rule about the car and who is in it, set for the lane and not for the ballpark.
The ballpark sets its own clock by the day of the week. Gates open 90 minutes before first pitch for Sunday-Friday games and 2 hours before first pitch for Saturday games, according to the Chase Field A-Z guide, read September 2026. Laid over the lane rule, any weekday first pitch from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. puts the 90-minute gate opening inside the 3pm-7pm window (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).
Take an illustrative first pitch at 6:40 p.m. On a Tuesday, gates open at 5:10 p.m., inside the afternoon occupancy window. On a Saturday, gates open at 4:40 p.m. and the weekday rule does not apply at all (Lot Opens calculation on an illustrative time, September 2026).
Three cases follow from those two clocks. Favorable: a Saturday or Sunday game, when the weekday requirement does not apply and a solo driver can use the lane. Normal: a weekday evening game with the multiple passengers the lane asks for. Unfavorable: a solo driver on a weekday arriving between 3pm and 7pm, whose route runs through the general lanes and the 7th Avenue exit rather than the 5th Avenue HOV exit.
Friday counts as a weekday for the lane and as a 90-minute day at the gate.
Which Copper Square arrival wins for each kind of Diamondbacks trip
Winner for a driver from the Southeast Valley: I-17 to the 7th Avenue exit, then right and right again at Lincoln Street or Jefferson Street, on the ballpark’s own hint for avoiding congestion, read September 2026. The criterion is staying off 7th Street, which the driving directions page names as the least preferred surface street. The caveat is where the car lands: a space south of Jefferson and west of 3rd Street leaves by the southwest route back to 7th Avenue (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).
Winner for a driver from Scottsdale or East Mesa: the 7th Avenue exit off I-10, because the 3rd Street HOV exit is the least preferred option during event ingress in the Diamondbacks’ own words. What it costs is Van Buren, reachable from 3rd Street only.
Winner for a West Valley or Northeast Valley car with passengers: the 5th Avenue HOV exit, which both routes publish as the way to avoid congestion. The caveat is the clock, since the lane requires multiple passengers from 3pm to 7pm on weekdays.
A Northwest Valley driver has the plainest winner: I-17 to the Jefferson Street exit and a left turn eastbound, the only approach on the page that names a single exit and a single turn, read September 2026. The caveat is that Jefferson Street is the ballpark’s north boundary, so the quadrant still has to be picked on arrival.
Loser in every case: a driver who reaches Copper Square without a quadrant in mind. An exit route gets chosen the moment the engine stops.
Valley Metro Rail at a $4 daily fare maximum, the alternative to a Copper Square space
Light rail serves riders in Phoenix, Mesa and Tempe, and trains run every 15-20 minutes and stop within walking distance of Chase Field, according to the Diamondbacks Valley Metro Rail page, read September 2026. Once a rider reaches the daily fare maximum of $4, the page says, nothing extra is due for rides the same day.
For two adults, each fare stops at that $4 daily maximum, so the transit cost of the day is capped before leaving home and no parking decision is needed at all (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026). The wait is the variable: favorable is a train already at the platform, normal is a wait inside the 15 minutes of the tighter interval, and unfavorable is the full 20 minutes of the wider one.
Fares can be bought at any light rail station with cash, credit or debit card, and to skip lines after the game the Diamondbacks encourage riders to add funds in advance using the Valley Metro app or a Copper card, read September 2026. None of the five Diamondbacks pages read gives a last train or a postgame service, and valleymetro.org carries the trip planner the ballpark points to.
The train has a published price. The space does not.
Leaving Copper Square follows the quadrant the car was parked in
Parking location sorts the drive out on the Diamondbacks additional information page, read September 2026. Parked north of Washington Street: 3rd or 7th Avenues to the freeways, or Central, 3rd and 7th Avenues to continue northbound. Parked in the southeast quadrant: south to Lincoln Street, east to 7th Street, then right on 7th Street to I-17 or southbound.
Parked in the southwest quadrant: south to Lincoln, which turns into Grant, then west to 7th Avenue for I-17 to the south or I-10 to the north, according to the same Diamondbacks page. The exit is fixed when the car is parked, which is the practical reason behind the park-where-you-entered rule (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).
No Diamondbacks page read puts a clock on any of it. State Farm Stadium in Glendale does publish one for its own parking lots, opening them 4 hours before a Cardinals kickoff and closing them 1 hour after the event, read September 2026. The one Chase Field figure counted from the end of a game is Guest Relations at sections 128 and 322, staffed until approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game, which is help for a lost item and not a garage or train deadline.
Six Copper Square details a Diamondbacks driver can settle at home
- Origin first, exit second. Six origins appear on the driving directions page, from the Southeast Valley to the West Valley, and each carries its own exit, read September 2026.
- The quadrant follows from the exit. A southern arrival parks between 3rd Avenue and 9th Street, from Lincoln to Jefferson Street, in the ballpark’s worked example.
- Occupancy against the clock. HOV lanes into Copper Square require multiple passengers from 6am to 9am and 3pm to 7pm on weekdays, according to the Diamondbacks.
- A ParkWhiz price is a ParkWhiz price. The D-backs name ParkWhiz as preferred partner and print no rate beside it, read 15 September 2026.
- A booking requirement is not a disclosure. Oracle Park requires a pre-purchased reservation and prints no rate of its own, read September 2026, so a San Francisco driver meets the same blank by another route.
- The fare can be loaded before first pitch. The Diamondbacks encourage adding funds through the Valley Metro app or a Copper card to skip lines after the game, under a $4 daily fare maximum.
Where a Copper Square parking plan fails between the ramp and the ballpark
Turning left from 7th Street onto Washington Street. Left turns from 7th Street westbound onto Washington Street are prohibited, according to the Diamondbacks driving directions page, read September 2026, a rule for the car that sits inside the Southeast Valley route.
Reading Gates A, F, J and K as parking. Those letters belong to Chase Field re-entry gates for ticket holders on foot, read September 2026, and no lettered or numbered parking area appears on the five Diamondbacks pages.
Quoting a ParkWhiz checkout as the Chase Field rate. The ballpark page names ParkWhiz as its preferred partner and prints no figure, so any price there is the operator’s, for that date.
Parking between Washington Street and Jefferson Street and expecting a route out. Diamondbacks exit text covers north of Washington Street and the two quadrants south of Jefferson, and the strip between them is left out (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).
Driving solo into an HOV lane on a weekday evening. Multiple passengers are required from 3pm to 7pm on weekdays, and a 90-minute weekday gate window falls inside that span for any first pitch from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).
Treating the Chase Field Garage or the Jefferson Street Garage as a car plan. Both are named for street-level bike racks, read September 2026, with no car rate, capacity or hours on the pages read.
Five Diamondbacks pages at mlb.com behind every route in this guide
The ParkWhiz referral comes from the Chase Field parking page. The six approaches, the prohibited left turn and the ballpark boundaries come from the driving directions page, and the quadrant rule, the HOV hours, the 3rd Street warning and the exit routes from the additional information page. The $4 fare maximum and the 15-20 minute frequency come from the Valley Metro Rail page, and the gate times, the garages and the Guest Relations hours from the A-Z guide, all published by the Arizona Diamondbacks and read 15 September 2026.
Lines for Petco Park, Oracle Park, Chase Center, Crypto.com Arena, Dodger Stadium and Snapdragon Stadium come from those venues’ own pages, read September 2026, and carry no dollar figure here. No Chase Field parking price appears in this guide, because the ballpark publishes none.
The figures in this guide were verified in September 2026 against the sources named in each section. Downtown Phoenix detours change as conditions dictate, operator prices change by date, and Valley Metro Rail frequencies change with each service change; check the issuer’s page before you travel.
Parking questions from Diamondbacks drivers heading into Copper Square
Six answers about the ParkWhiz referral, the quadrant rule, the freeway exits, the HOV lanes and the train, from Diamondbacks pages read September 2026.
No parking price appears on the Chase Field parking page, read September 2026. The Arizona Diamondbacks send drivers to ParkWhiz, their preferred partner, to pre-book one of the closest options, so a figure on a ParkWhiz checkout is set by ParkWhiz for that date and is not a rate the ballpark publishes.
The Diamondbacks give a rule rather than a list: park in the same Copper Square quadrant you entered from. Their example is a southern arrival, who parks between 3rd Avenue and 9th Street, from Lincoln to Jefferson Street, read September 2026. The Chase Field Garage and the Jefferson Street Garage are named only for bike racks.
The 3rd Street HOV exit. Due to heavy usage it is the least preferred option during event ingress, according to the Diamondbacks, read September 2026, even though their Scottsdale and East Mesa route lists it. The 7th Avenue exit off I-10 is the other exit on that route, at the cost of access to Van Buren.
Outside peak hours, yes. Multiple passengers are required only from 6am to 9am and 3pm to 7pm on weekdays, according to the Diamondbacks, read September 2026, a rule about who is in the car. A weekday first pitch from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. puts the 90-minute gate opening inside that afternoon window (Lot Opens calculation).
Once a rider reaches the daily fare maximum of $4, further rides that day cost nothing extra, according to the Diamondbacks Valley Metro Rail page, read September 2026. Trains run every 15-20 minutes and stop within walking distance of Chase Field. None of the five Diamondbacks pages read gives a last train after a game.
Yes. Left turns from 7th Street westbound onto Washington Street are prohibited, according to the Diamondbacks driving directions page, read September 2026. The rule applies to cars on the Southeast Valley approach, which leaves I-17 on 7th Street, and the published way around congestion on that route is I-17 to the 7th Avenue exit.
A ballpark that answers where before it answers how much
A parking price looks like the one fact a Chase Field driver cannot do without, and in Phoenix it turns out to be the fact the ballpark can hand to someone else. What the Diamondbacks keep is geography: an exit for each of six origins, a quadrant for each arrival and a route out for each quadrant, read September 2026. A space chosen by price alone can sit on the wrong side of Jefferson Street and come with an exit that runs away from home.
