Lumen Field prints 6am for the garage and leaves the gates to its tenants

An arrival in SODO gets planned around one number, and the building that owns the address does not print it.

Lumen Field prints 6am for the garage and leaves the gates to its...: Lot Opens event-day guide

Lumen Field opens its parking garage and North Lot at 6am on event days and closes both 2 hours post event, read September 2026. The hour the gates open belongs to whoever is playing: the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders FC publish it, and the stadium guide does not.

What follows sorts every arrival hour any issuer publishes for 800 Occidental Ave S, names the page each one sits on, and marks the two places where a team contradicts its own standing rule.

Lumen Field leaves the gate hour to its tenants, and they print four different ones

Lumen Field prints no standing gate hour on its stadium guide pages. The Seahawks publish two hours prior to kickoff for general tickets and three hours for suites. The Sounders publish ninety minutes for every gate. Any other event varies, and a phone number stands where the time would be.

The stadium guide at lumenfield.com runs alphabetically from its Accessibility Services Guide to Wi-Fi, with entries for lockers, prohibited items, strollers and tickets, read September 2026. Not one of those entries carries an hour for the doors.

The venue does publish door times, one event at a time, on the event page itself. The listing for for KING + COUNTRY at WAMU Theater shows 6:00 PM for doors and 7:00 PM for the start, and the CeCe Winans listing for December 10 shows the same pair, both read September 2026.

The standing rule and the printed hour come from different places. That gap is the whole problem for a visitor who goes once.

Every published arrival clock at 800 Occidental Ave S, and the issuer behind it

The third column below is the one that decides how much weight an hour carries, because four different organizations publish the rows and only one of them runs the building. Every cell was read in September 2026 on the page named beside it.

Four of those twelve rows come from the stadium, five from the Seahawks, two from the Sounders and one from the transit agency. A visitor reading only lumenfield.com sees the parking clock and the shop clock, and nothing about a door.

A Seahawks ticket, not a clock, decides which gate hour applies

Gate opening times for Seahawks games run on the ticket. Charter and general ticket holders enter two hours prior to kickoff, suite ticket holders and Tunnel Club members three hours prior, and Delta Sky360 Club and field seat holders three hours prior for the club level and two hours prior for seats in the bowl, according to the Seahawks gameday policies, read September 2026.

The same entry closes with a sentence that matters more to a concert crowd than to a season ticket holder. Gate opening times for other events at Lumen Field and the Lumen Field Event Center will vary, and the club gives a number to call, (206) 381-7555, read September 2026.

Then the club’s own game day page disagrees with its own rule. The Gameday Schedule carried there in September 2026 lists Ticketmaster Tailgate Opens at 2:00 p.m., Suites and Delta Sky 360 Club Open at 2:30 p.m., All Gates Open at 3:30 p.m. and Kickoff at 5:20 p.m.

Run the standing rule against that kickoff and three of the four items move. Two hours prior lands the general gates at 3:20 p.m. and the schedule says 3:30 p.m.; three hours prior lands the suites and the tailgate at 2:20 p.m., and the schedule says 2:30 p.m. for one and 2:00 p.m. for the other (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026).

Across town the tenant decides the door as well, though the arena says so out loud, as set out in the Seattle Center building that prints one door hour for hockey and another for basketball. In SODO the tenant decides it and the landlord stays quiet.

Ten minutes is not a crisis. Knowing which page a group is working from is.

The Sounders publish ninety minutes and their own matchday page prints 4:30 PM

For Sounders FC matches, all gates will open ninety minutes prior to kickoff, and gate opening times for other events in Lumen Field and the Lumen Field Event Center will vary by event, according to the club’s stadium information page, read September 2026. That page routes other events to an Event Hotline on (206) 381-7500.

Two clubs, two hotlines, one building. The Seahawks send the same question to (206) 381-7555, read September 2026.

The club’s Know Before You Go guide prints an actual schedule rather than a rule, and when read in September 2026 it still fronted an MLS regular season match listed for Saturday, September 5 against the New York Red Bulls: 4:30 PM for gates open, 5:30 PM for match time and 5:40 PM for actual kickoff time.

Measured against that listing, the gates open sixty minutes before match time and seventy minutes before the actual kickoff, which is short of the ninety minutes the standing rule promises (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026). The split between a match time and an actual kickoff time is the part a once a year visitor never sees coming, because the ticket carries one of the two.

A supporters march adds a third clock outdoors. March to the Match leaves Occidental Park sixty minutes before kickoff, according to Sounders FC, read September 2026, which on a ninety minute gate rule means the march starts after the gates are already open.

6am opens a garage the Seahawks describe as sold out for the season

The garage at 330 S Royal Brougham Way and the North Lot at 521 Stadium Pl S. both open at 6am on event days and close 2 hours post event, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026. Onsite parking rates are subject to change and may vary on the day of the event, which is the whole of what the stadium publishes about cost.

Football changes what that 6am is worth. Since all of our on-site parking is sold out, we recommend the Union Station Garage on 4th Ave. or the Mariners Garage adjacent to T-Mobile Park, in the Seahawks own wording, read September 2026, and the club repeats it for accessible parking: those locations are sold out on a full season basis.

The stadium says the softer version of the same thing. For gameday, most parking spots are allocated to Season Ticket Holders, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026, which points the rest of the crowd at public transit or nearby garages.

Favorable case: a concert or a midweek event where the 6am gate is an open invitation and a car can sit all day. Normal case: a Sounders match, where the lots open early and fill from the pass list. Unfavorable case: a Seahawks Sunday, where the published opening hour describes a facility a single game buyer cannot use.

The Lumen Field parking page answers the price question with an inbox and the clock question with 6am, and the neighboring ballpark builds its clock the other way round, as the two SODO stadiums and the hours each one leaves blank sets out. One opens on a wall clock, the other on the fixture.

Every car entering the garage stops for a canine screening

All vehicles located within the Lumen Field Parking Garage shall be inspected by certified Explosive Detection Canines, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026. On entry a driver is instructed to turn off the vehicle and open the trunk for a brief 10 to 15 second visual security screening, while parking attendants scan the mobile parking pass.

That is the only queue figure any issuer attaches to a Lumen Field arrival. It belongs to the car rather than to the turnstile, and it multiplies by the number of cars ahead in the lane, which no page quantifies.

Where the car lands then decides the walk. The Blue Elevator on the south side of the garage reaches Street Level, Gates 1 to 9, the Lumen Field Event Center and WAMU Theater, and the Green Elevator on the north side reaches the Club Level on Level 5, the Suite Level on Level 6 and the accessible entrance, with the Accessible Entrance itself on Level 2, read September 2026.

Gates run on a numbered system starting at Gate 1, formerly the NE Gate, and proceeding counter clockwise around the stadium, according to Lumen Field, read September 2026. Medically necessary items reach the seats through five named doors, and the Lumen Field bag rules that route those items through the Cascade, Olympic and Rainier VIP gates cover which of them sit inside the garage.

Re-entry ends at kickoff, and the rule is about the fan rather than the car

Re-entry at Lumen Field is event dependent, and there is no re-entry for WAMU Theater events unless otherwise specified, according to the stadium’s own tickets page, read September 2026. That sentence sat on a page most arrival planning never opens.

For football the team makes it exact. Due to security concerns and direction from NFL Security, re-entry is only permitted up until kickoff time, and once a fan exits Lumen Field after kickoff, they cannot reenter under any circumstances, according to the Seahawks gameday policies, read September 2026.

The subject of that rule is the person walking back through a gate, not the vehicle in the garage. The car keeps its own deadline, 2 hours post event, which is set by the stadium and counted from the real finish.

Both halves matter because the prohibited items page ends where the re-entry rule does. A guest will be asked to return any prohibited items to the car, or the item can be disposed of at the gates, read September 2026, so an item refused after kickoff has one published outcome left.

Walker’s Lockers is the official bag storage for Seahawks games and large stadium events including Supercross, Monster Jam and full stadium concerts, located near the North and South entrances, with no price and no opening hour published, read September 2026.

A 1:25 p.m. kickoff and a 7:30 p.m. match, with every gate hour filled in

The table below is a Lot Opens calculation, September 2026. The two start times are the ones Lumen Field lists for its own tenants, an October 4 Seahawks kickoff against the Los Angeles Chargers and an October 28 Sounders match against Houston Dynamo FC, and each published rule is applied to them.

What opens, Lot Opens calculation, September 20261:25 p.m. Seahawks kickoff7:30 p.m. Sounders kickoffThe published rule behind it

Lots close2 hours after the final whistle2 hours after the final whistleCloses 2 hours post event, per Lumen Field

The football column opens a span of five hours and twenty five minutes between the gate of the garage and the gate of the stadium, and the soccer column stretches it to twelve hours (Lot Opens calculation, September 2026). Neither span is a queue estimate, because no issuer publishes one.

Three arrivals, three winners. A general ticket holder at a Seahawks game wins by working to the two hour mark, because the gates and the gameday giveaway both start there, with the caveat that the on site lots are sold out. A Sounders visitor wins by reading the matchday listing rather than the standing rule, since the printed gate hour has run short of it. A concert ticket holder wins by opening the event page, which is the only place a door time for that night exists.

Who gains least from arriving early: the driver of a car that has to leave again. Four published addresses take a passenger in and two corners hand one back, and none of the four appears on the way out.

Published Seattle lines that move the hour a group leaves home

Each line below sits on a different page, read September 2026, and each one changes a decision made before anybody starts driving.

  • The drop off zone has a deadline of its own. Drivers may drop off passengers across from the Pro Shop until kickoff, and are asked to tell the patrolling officers what they are doing, according to the Seahawks transportation guide.
  • A giveaway is tied to the gate on the ticket. The club ties receipt of a gameday giveaway to arriving early and using the gate entrance designated on the game ticket, and states that receipt is not guaranteed.
  • The ticket window keeps office hours, not event hours. The Lumen Field Ticket Office in the northwest corner runs Thursday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is closed on Sundays except Seahawks game days.
  • The shop opens long before the building. The Pro Shop runs Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., with free garage parking for shoppers who tell the attendant, according to Lumen Field.
  • Two Lumen Field pages name different stations. Its transport section calls Stadium and ID/Chinatown the two nearby stations, while its own FAQ recommends getting off at SODO, International District/Chinatown or Pioneer Square.
  • The train is running before the garage is. Sound Transit lists a first weekday 1 Line arrival at Westlake of 5:03 a.m. and at Stadium of 5:11 a.m., which beats the 6am gate; the same agency owns the evening cutoff, as the Seattle rail trip that needs a second vehicle at the far end works through.
  • The plaza is not a meeting point on event days. The Muckleshoot Heritage Plaza is open to the public daily with the exception of public event days and other private events, according to Lumen Field.

Where a Lumen Field arrival comes apart before the turnstile

Every failure below comes from reading one published sentence as more than it says, September 2026.

  • Treating 6am as a door time. It opens a garage and a surface lot, and the gates of the stadium are on a separate clock nobody at the stadium publishes.
  • Carrying the Seahawks two hour rule into a concert. Both clubs state that gate times for other events vary, and each sends that question to a different phone number.
  • Working a Sounders night from the standing rule alone. The matchday listing read in September 2026 opened its gates sixty minutes before match time, not ninety.
  • Planning to fetch something from the car mid event. Re-entry for a Seahawks game stops at kickoff and the rule covers the fan, while the car keeps its own window until 2 hours post event.
  • Assuming a space is buyable on the day. The Seahawks describe the garage and North Lot as sold out on a full season basis and point single game buyers elsewhere.
  • Reading the stadium line about midnight as a timetable. Lumen Field writes that all Links stop running at midnight, and Sound Transit is the issuer that publishes the schedule.
  • Counting on a pregame gathering in the plaza. Muckleshoot Heritage Plaza closes to the public on event days, which are exactly the days a visitor would use it.

Which Lumen Field, Seahawks, Sounders and Sound Transit pages carried each hour

The 6am opening, the 2 hours post event closing, the subject to change wording, both lot addresses, the canine screening and its 10 to 15 second window, the elevator and gate numbering, the Pro Shop hours and the Muckleshoot Heritage Plaza rule come from Lumen Field pages read in September 2026: its parking and transportation page, its Pro Shop page, its navigating page and its plaza entry. The event door times of 6:00 PM come from two of its own event listings, and the re-entry sentence from its tickets page.

The gate opening times by ticket type, the re-entry policy, the giveaway note, the Ticket Office hours, the Northwest Box Office hour, the sold out parking statements, the drop off rule and the Gameday Schedule of 2:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. come from Seattle Seahawks pages read in September 2026. The ninety minute gate rule and the Event Hotline come from the Sounders stadium information page, and the 4:30 PM gates, 5:30 PM match time, 5:40 PM actual kickoff and the March to the Match hour from its matchday guide, read the same month. The 5:03 a.m. and 5:11 a.m. first weekday arrivals come from the Sound Transit 1 Line schedule. Every conversion into a clock time is labeled as a Lot Opens calculation.

The figures in this guide were verified in September 2026 against the sources named in each section. Gate times change with the event and with the ticket, team pages are rewritten match by match, and rail timetables change with each service change; check the issuer’s page before you travel.

Questions Seattle visitors ask about Lumen Field gate times

The answers below come from Lumen Field, Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders FC pages and from the Sound Transit 1 Line schedule, all read in September 2026.

What time do the gates open at Lumen Field?

The tenant decides, not the building. Charter and general ticket holders enter two hours prior to kickoff for a Seahawks game and suite holders three hours, according to the Seahawks, while all gates open ninety minutes prior to kickoff for a Sounders FC match, read September 2026.

Does the Lumen Field website publish a gate time for a concert?

Not as a standing rule. The stadium guide carries no door hour, and both clubs state that gate times for other events vary, pointing callers to (206) 381-7555 or (206) 381-7500. Individual event listings do print doors, such as 6:00 PM ahead of a 7:00 PM start, read September 2026.

How early can Seahawks suite and club ticket holders get in?

Three hours prior to kickoff for suite holders and Tunnel Club members, according to the Seahawks gameday policies, read September 2026. Delta Sky360 Club and field seat holders also enter three hours prior for the club level, but reach their seats in the bowl two hours prior, which is the general gate hour.

Can you leave a Seahawks game at Lumen Field and come back in?

Only before kickoff. Re-entry is permitted up until kickoff time and there is none afterwards, according to the Seahawks, read September 2026. The rule covers the fan walking back through a gate; the car keeps the stadium window instead, since the lots close 2 hours post event.

How early does Ticketmaster Tailgate open before a Seahawks game?

Three hours prior to kickoff for every Seahawks home game, according to the club, read September 2026. It sits indoors in the Lumen Field Event Center because tailgating is not permitted on stadium property. The club’s own Gameday Schedule listed it at 2:00 p.m. against a 5:20 p.m. kickoff.

When does the first Link train reach Stadium Station in the morning?

Sound Transit lists a first weekday 1 Line arrival at Westlake of 5:03 a.m. and at Stadium of 5:11 a.m., read September 2026. Both land before the Lumen Field garage opens at 6am, so the train is the earlier way into SODO on an event day.

The landlord wrote the parking clock and the tenant wrote the door

A stadium that publishes 6am and 2 hours post event has answered the two questions a car asks and none of the questions a person asks. Everything about walking in, from the gate hour to the last minute a ticket can come back through it, belongs to whichever club is playing, and both clubs change that answer for events they do not run. The practical effect is that planning an arrival at Lumen Field starts on a page with a team badge on it, and the stadium’s own clock only tells a group how long the car is welcome.

The stadium answers when its garage opens. When the turnstile opens is a question for the Seahawks, the Sounders, or a phone number.
